Bio:
The band was founded in 1997 by Krum Doinov (guitar) and Ilia Dimitrov (guitar)(RIP). Soon they gathered Kiril Kirilov (vocals) and for some time remained without bass player and drummer. Serious differences in musical aspect between Krum and Ilia split them and Ilia left the band. The vacancy was filled by Plamen Petkov (guitar) who became the bass player subsequently. .... The first gig was in the early 1998 in the former capital metal club "Sevastopol" with lineup Kiril, Krum, Plamen and Stoyan("Epizod") on the drums. Soon after that Ivaylo Baev("Murtvo", drums) and Yordan Kanchev ("M.O.P.", guitar) were attracted to fill in the blanks in the band. Then followed a series of gigs and performances all over the country, which spanned the period 1998 - 2005, mainly in the capital Sofia, but also in Plovdiv, Shumen, Svoge, Primorsko, Blagoevgrad, Haskovo. Hyperborea's fame increased gradually; the hinders were not a few but the band won the fans' hearts because remained true to the style. .... Meanwhile, in the spring of 1999 Ivaylo Baev left and during the following 3 years the capital death metallers were forced to resort to the services of guest-performers - e.g. Pencho Penchev ("Vile, "Raindogs"), Tzvetan Tzonev, Alex Gueorguiev ("Primitive Angel Gospoden"). In May 2002 was attracted Jivko Kyossev (ex-"Uxoricide") who made great advantage in the Hyperborea's development. In the autumn Plamen left and was replaced for some time by Andrei Andronov ("Wartime", guitar), as a guest-bass player. In the spring of 2003 was attracted Vlado Ivanov (bass). .... In the mean time started the recordings of the so much delayed debut album. The main reason for the deferment was the lack of a serious drummer. The album was recorded in different studios and produced by Hyperborea in the period June - November 2003. On 30th January 2004 the band played abroad for the first time, in Bucurest, Romania, in the famous Club Aaa. The audience counted more than 500 people and the gig was captured by the Romanian MTV and assessed as a great success. The support act were the most famous Romanian extreme bands "Kratos" and "Avatar". .... The 15th of June 2004 was the official release date of the debut album, entitled "Architecture Of Mind" (Butchery Music). The feedback was shining - on the pages of the metal magazine Pro-Rock the album was given 9/10 points, as well as a spectacular review. On 20th July 2004 the band, along with other famous Bulgarian bands was a support act of the Polish death metal machinery "Vader" - with a guest-guitar player Lyubo "Chewbaca" in lieu of Yordan. In the autumn, as a result of personal dissonances, Krum left and was replaced by Andrei Andronov on the guitar. The band has supported Obituary, Vader, Pungent Stench, Sacramental Blood, Crematory, Neural Booster. A new 9-song record named "Cryogenic Somnia" was done in 2007 and was officially released on December 5th, 2007 by Counter Attack Productions. In the beginning of 2011 Vladimir Ivanov left and was replaced by Dinko Dimov. Now Hyperborea is working on new material for a third album.
